Understanding Transcultural Belonging in CBAC Youth and Children’s Ministries

Introduction and Purpose

You are invited to participate in an online survey which is part of the research project Understanding Transcultural Belonging in CBAC Youth and Children’s Ministries. This research project is led by a team at Acadia Divinity College. This study seeks to explore how children and youth of both immigrant and Canadian-born parents experience belonging in youth and children’s ministries within CBAC churches. The purpose of this research is to support culturally sensitive ministry practices in congregations.

This project is led by Rev. Dan Pyke, Director of the Next Generation Ministry Program at Acadia Divinity College and Director of Next Generation Ministry for the CBAC. The research team also includes Dr. Jody Linkletter, Assistant Professor of Next Generation Ministry; Dr. Steve McMullin, Professor Emeritus and Consultant on Intercultural Competency; Joel Murphy, Facilitator of Trend Research and Analysis; and graduate researchers Joetta Fernando and Vipin Joseph. Funding has been provided by the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada.

The study has been approved by Acadia University’s Research Ethics Board (REB File #25-43), chaired by Dr. Stephanie Jones. Ethical concerns may be directed to Dr. Jones at stephanie.jones@acadiau.ca or 902.585.1495.
