Sport Specialization in Disability Sport

Sport specialization has been shown to pose many psychosocial and physiological health risks including athletic burnout, decreased enjoyment in physical activity, overuse injury, and amotivation. Focused research on young adults who have specialized in parasport will help researchers understand the developmental experiences of athletes with a physical disability as they specialize in parasport. The results from this study will help us determine what sport specialization looks and feels like in parasport and help us identify the risks associated with specialization in parasport.
